Fold, unfold or rotate. PLANNER - New Yearly style, Months and Day: the months run along the top, and the day you tap opens below with its Timeline next to untimed tasks and all-day items. - iPhone and iPad keep a layout per orientation too. Defaults are Weekly Timeline on an upright iPhone, Weekly 2 pages sideways, and Months and Day on iPad. ADD TASKS ON THE TIMELINE - Touch and hold an empty hour to place a new task there, on the Weekly Timeline, the Timeline beside the Agenda and the Desk Clock's mini Timeline. - Or, use mouse or Pencil to draw task/event blocks. Finalist 4.2 grew out of a month of designing for iPhone Duo, and it makes every iPhone, iPad and Mac better too. iPhone now turns to landscape, Daily gets a Desk Clock, Lens replaces the Assistant button, and Day Review helps you decide what each day holds. Plus a new theme that follows the sun. WORKSPACES AND DESK CLOCK - Each screen setup (iPhone and iPad orientations, Mac, each iPhone Duo pose) keeps its own Daily layout. - Desk Clock shows what's on now and the time left in it, or the countdown to what's next. - Turn iPhone sideways for the Desk Clock and Timeline beside your Agenda. FOLLOW THE DAY - A new landscape theme that tracks your real sunrise, sunset and moon phase. LENS - The Assistant button is now Lens: which calendars are on today and how busy each one is, in Daily and the Planner. - Toggle calendars and tags, plus Solo, Tasks and Habits modes. Hold a calendar to see what's next. - The Planner follows Lens, so the separate Planner Filter is retired. DAY REVIEW - Overdue, undated and set-aside tasks in one place. Swipe right to take one on today, left to send it to Someday. - Choose from Outstanding, Undated, Someday, Markdown Tasks and Lists, with optional Apple Intelligence priorities. - The evening notification opens Review Tomorrow. DAILY AND TIMELINE - The Timeline is now part of Daily. Flip to it by tapping the day's title, or Cmd+2 on Mac. - Drag tasks between the Timeline and Agenda, with Undo. - The day pill now browses days on Mac, iPad and iOS 18 too, and drives the Planner's weeks and months. - Penciled times sync between devices. Hold the hour rail for a New Task at that time. - Snooze is now "Later today", with better times to pick. - Hide past events, and show event end as a duration ("1hr") or time ("until 10p"). - Swipe left on any task to select it. - Forecast on future days, and the now-ribbon on Broadsheet. PLANNER - Weekly Timeline: one week per page, hours on top, tasks below. Drag up to give a task time, or across to move it. - Continuous Yearly: weeks run together with month names down the margin. NOTIFICATIONS - Complete and Remind buttons on task and habit notifications. - Remind until done (Settings > Notifications) nudges you until you check it off. TASKS, REMINDERS AND HABITS - Compact New Task row (Layout > New Task options). - Drag and drop across Daily, Broadsheet and subtasks. Select several tasks and Group as Subtasks. - Reschedule to any day, with a summary of what's already there. - Reminders keep their alarm when moved. Finalist 4.1 is ready for the latest iOS, here are the highlights. SIRI AND APPLE INTELLIGENCE (iOS 27) Siri can now manage Finalist directly. Create, update, complete and delete tasks, take notes, and manage calendar events, all conversationally. Say "Add a task in Finalist", or say the whole thing in one sentence and it goes right in. Use Finalist regularly and Siri learns it is your planner, so you can even drop the app name. Tasks and notes appear in Spotlight too, so Siri can find and open them by name. WEEKLY SPREAD A new Planner mode that lays out your week like a paper planner spread: Monday to Wednesday on the left page, Thursday to Sunday on the right. iPad and Mac show the open spread and flip whole weeks, iPhone turns one page at a time. A new visual layout picker lets you show or hide any kind of content (tasks, reminders, habits, events, weather) in every Planner mode. SCORE An opt-in Daily section that turns a week of scattered effort into one number. Give your tags point values, set a weekly target, and earn points by completing tasks, habits and reminders, or simply journaling. A new History view shows half a year of week-by-week results, with streaks and your best week. Turn it on in Customize Layout. DAY NOTES AND SKETCHES Daily's Notes section now has a permanent spot to jot things down. Start typing and it becomes today's note. Tap the pencil tab to sketch instead, with Apple Pencil or a finger, right inside Daily. Drawings use Apple's modern Pencil engine with shapes, text boxes and stickers, and sketches now show up on the Mac. MULTI-SELECTION Pick a bunch of tasks in Daily and complete, move, tag or delete them in one go, with Undo. Cmd-click on Mac and iPad, two-finger tap on iPhone. The Timeline gets multi-select too: group blocks and move them together, gaps preserved. ALSO IN 4.1 - A new full-page Day Page widget, built for iOS 27's extra-large widget size. - Tags: a two-page workspace with usage details, Time Spent reports, twenty new ink colors and a custom color picker. - Habits open a proper summary page with streak stats and calendars. - Journal: workouts logged from Health bring their GPS route, with mini maps of your runs and walks. - Text size control in Settings, reaching most of the app. - Mac: Capture arrives in the View menu, and Cmd+E / Cmd+Delete work wherever you hover. - Show in Note / List / Daily jumps from any task to where it lives. - Photos and sketches move to new synced storage with much higher quality and size limits. - Apple Watch: reschedule reminders from the wrist, and a cleaner tap model on rows. - Much faster iCloud sync, quicker cold launch, smoother scrolling. - Hundreds of fixes and refinements. Finalist 4.0 is the biggest release since launch: four months of open beta, 40 builds, and a planner that is now complete on every screen. NOTES A new Notes tab with notebooks, an Inbox, tags and global search. Keep native notes that sync over iCloud, or connect any folder of markdown files, including your Obsidian vault, and edit them in place. Markdown tasks become real Finalist tasks. Pin notes to Daily, date a note to surface it on the right day, or long-press the big PLUS to dictate one instantly. APPLE WATCH (NEW) Finalist comes to the wrist. A Now card answers the day's current question, from your first moves in the morning to an evening wrap-up with streaks to protect. Below it, one scrollable view of events, tasks, reminders and habits. Long-press a task for Done, Tomorrow, or In 10 Minutes. Pinned lists are checkable from the wrist, and complications plus a Smart Stack widget keep your day on the watch face. Requires watchOS 26. YOUR DAY, REDESIGNED Daily now has two looks: Daybook, the classic, and Broadsheet, a newsprint-inspired design for big screens.
