Build Fails Because of dotnet-sdk-3.1 and dotnet-sdk-5.0 Unavailability. #122

Open

Description

@SpaceDandy-Tama

I could build and use dotdevelop before, but recently I reinstalled PopOS 22.04. dotnet-sdk-3.1 and dotnet-sdk-5.0 is not supported by microsoft anymore and there are no packages available that I could find.

The build fails with dotnet-sdk-6.0 and dotnet-sdk-7.0.

mono-complete package is installed.

I get "too many projects" error.

    What distro?

    BTW I don't think this is related to dotnet-sdk3.1 or 5.0 or 6.0. or 7.0. I think this is related to the fact that dotdevelop still needs .NET4.x to build (legacy dotnet), which means that in Linux you need mono. And not only that, you need a distro that distributes mono's msbuild package, because xbuild has this "too many projects" bug that you mention.

    mono-complete was installed but I see what you mean about msbuild vs xbuild. Is it possible to install mono msbuild?

    Only from the apt sources advertised in https://www.mono-project.com/ AFAIU.
