Support OSC 7501 agent-status reporting for herdr-app/herdr-core #5320
Please add native OSC 7501 (Program Status Protocol) reporting to Copilot CLI so terminals such as the new Herdr app can display Copilot sessions and track their activity.
Current behavior
Copilot CLI launches and works inside a Herdr-managed terminal, but does not appear in the Agents sidebar.
For the running Copilot terminal, hc get <terminal> reports:
{
"reported": false,
"status": null
}
Codex running in the same Herdr instance appears in the sidebar and reports:
This remains reproducible when launching Copilot manually from a Herdr terminal or through Herdr’s agent-launch menu.
Expected behavior
Copilot reports its identity and lifecycle state through OSC 7501, allowing Herdr to distinguish:
Idle and ready for input
Working
Waiting for permission or user input
Finished or errored
Status reporting should be observational only and should not change permission handling.
Steps to reproduce
Open the new Herdr desktop app backed by herdr-core.
Launch copilot inside a Herdr terminal.
Observe that Copilot runs but is absent from the Agents sidebar.
Run hc get <terminal> and observe that reported is false and status is null.
Launch Codex in another Herdr terminal and observe that it reports status and appears in the sidebar.
Environment
OS: macOS, Apple Silicon
Copilot CLI: 1.0.106-2
herdr-core: 0.1.16
Context
This concerns the new herdr-app / herdr-core, not the older Herdr TUI. The new core relies on program-emitted OSC 7501 reports rather than screen scraping.
