Open-source tooling for astrodynamics, mission analysis, and space operations.
astro-tools is a community developing open-source software for space mission design and analysis.
- Mission design & analysis β trajectory design, targeting, optimization, and maneuver planning.
- Astrodynamics libraries β orbital mechanics, coordinate and time systems, force models, and propagation.
- Interoperability β bridges, wrappers, and utilities around established tools (e.g. GMAT) and standard data formats (SPICE, CCSDS).
- Automation & scripting β headless runners, batch workflows, and APIs that make mission analysis reproducible.
- Learning resources β examples, tutorials, and reference missions that teach while they run.
- gmat-run β Run GMAT mission scripts from Python and get results as pandas DataFrames.
We welcome contributions of all sizes.
- Browse the repositories and find an area that interests you.
- Check the issues on the relevant repo β look for
good first issueorhelp wantedlabels. - Open an issue before large changes so we can align on approach.
- Fork, branch, and open a pull request. Follow the repo's

No contribution is too small β documentation fixes, examples, and bug reports are just as valuable as code.
