Avoid locking across ctypes errcheck callbacks - #9611
Clone the ctypes function's errcheck reference under its read lock and release the lock before invoking the callback. A callback can then replace function.errcheck without waiting on its own read lock.
Release the write lock before dropping a replaced callback, so its finalizer can also re-enter the setter.
Retain the callback snapshot through result and OUT-parameter processing.
Scope
This change does not address existing differences in when the snapshot is taken relative to the foreign call, assignment of None, or OUT-parameter handling after an errcheck override.
Validation
Confirmed the callback-replacement and finalizer-replacement behavior with CPython 3.15.0.
Independent source review and normal commit hooks (including rustfmt) passed.
RustPython was not built or executed locally. No tests were added or changed; hosted CI is expected to run the existing ctypes tests.
Summary by CodeRabbit
Bug Fixes
Improved handling of custom error-check callbacks when processing results and changing the callback. Callback execution and replacement are less likely to interfere with one another, while invalid callback values continue to raise a type error. This makes custom error checking more reliable without changing the expected behavior for invalid values.
Snapshot the errcheck callable before invoking Python, and release the setter lock before destroying the old callable. Both callbacks and finalizers can replace errcheck reentrantly.

Walkthrough
The errcheck setter replaces the stored callable under a write lock and drops the previous callable after releasing the lock. build_result clones the configured callback before checking and invoking it.

Summary
errcheck update and invocation crates/vm/src/stdlib/_ctypes/function.rs
The setter accepts None or callable values, replaces the stored value, and raises TypeError for other values. It drops the previous callable after releasing the write lock. build_result clones the configured callback before invoking it.
The change removes the identified errcheck re-entry deadlock paths while preserving callback lifetime. No actionable merge-blocking risk remains, subject to normal build and test checks.

Explanation
The title "Avoid locking across ctypes errcheck callbacks" matches the main change. The PR clones the errcheck callable under the read lock and releases the lock before invoking it. The setter also drops the replaced callable after releasing the write lock. The title is specific to the ctypes errcheck area and states the purpose of the change.
Full details: Docstring Coverage
Explanation
Docstring coverage is 50.00% which is insufficient. The required threshold is 80.00%. Docstring coverage is scoped to functions touched by this diff with cyclomatic complexity of at least 2. Documentation-only edits and deletions within surviving functions are included; unchanged diff context and fully deleted functions are excluded. Analyzed 2 functions across 1 files.
Resolution
Write docstrings for the functions missing them to satisfy the coverage threshold.

Preserve the existing errcheck comment
The removed // Apply errcheck if set comment remains accurate after this refactor, so replacing it violates AGENTS.md's explicit restriction against rewriting existing comments unless they are factually wrong or contradict the new code. Retain the original comment and add the lock-lifetime explanation separately.
Add a test that reassigns errcheck from inside an errcheck callback.
The callback runs after the read guard is released, so this path works today. A future change that holds the read guard across the callback would block in set_errcheck when the callback assigns errcheck. No current test assigns errcheck from inside a callback, so that regression would not fail any test.
The existing errcheck checks run only in the Windows-only else branch of extra_tests/snippets/stdlib_ctypes.py. Place the new test where CI runs it.

Add a test in the CI-executed `extra_tests/snippets/stdlib_ctypes.py` that
reassigns `errcheck` from within an errcheck callback and verifies the callback
completes without blocking. Keep the test in the existing Windows-only errcheck
test branch so it exercises the current callback path and guards against holding
the read guard during callback execution.
